Founded in 1937, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University has developed over 88 years into a medical group comprising 5 branches, 1 nursing home, and 1 internet hospital. It is the largest tertiary comprehensive hospital in Western Fujian, integrating medical care, teaching, research, prevention, and rehabilitation. The hospital has been rated A+ in the national performance evaluation of tertiary public hospitals for six consecutive years (ranking in the top 2-3% of national tertiary public hospitals), and it has entered the top 100 hospitals nationwide, consistently ranking first in the city. For 7 consecutive years, it has been listed in the “China Hospital Competitiveness Top 100 Hospitals” ranking, currently at 81st place. The hospital was the first in Xiamen to break into the national top 100 hospitals list and continues to lead in Western Fujian.

现有临床、医技科室68个；
The hospital currently has 68 clinical and medical technology departments;
拥有4个国家重点专科建设项目、4个国家临床医学研究中心福建省分中心、3个福建省临床医学研究中心、25个福建省临床重点专科建设项目。在2023年度中国医学院校科技量值（STEM）暨2019-2023五年总科技量值（ASTEM）中我院共有10个学科进入百强榜，学科进榜数位居福建省前三、厦门市第一，截至目前共有20个学科进入百强榜。在2023年度中国医院创新转化100强排行榜中我院位列第18名，被授予四星机构称号,为福建省唯一上榜医疗机构。
It boasts 4 National Key Specialty Development Programs, 4 Branch Centers of National Clinical Research Centers (Fujian), 3 Fujian Provincial Clinical Research Centers, 25 Fujian Provincial Key Clinical Specialty Development Programs. In the 2023 STEM (Science and Technology Evaluation Metrics) and 2019-2023 ASTEM (Five-Year Aggregate STEM) rankings released for Chinese medical institutions: 10 disciplines from our hospital entered the national Top 100. The number of ranked disciplines places us among the top 3 in Fujian Province and 1st in Xiamen. Cumulatively, 20 disciplines have now entered the Top 100 rankings. In the 2023 List of Top 100 Chinese Hospitals in Innovation and Transformation, our hospital was ranked 18th nationwide, awarded the title of Four-Star Institution, making it the only medical institution in Fujian Province to be listed.

The hospital currently has 4,119 employees, including 1,277 Communist Party of China members, 1,429 professionals with senior titles, 2,994 mid-level and senior technical professionals, 395 PhD holders, 842 master's degree holders, 38 doctoral supervisors, 218 master's supervisors.

1.设立内、外、妇、儿、急诊、护理等25个临床教研室，现有临床教师840人。
1. The hospital has established 25 clinical teaching and research departments, including internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, emergency medicine, nursing, etc. Currently, there are 840 clinical teachers.
2.现有20个国家级住院医师规范化培训基地及1个普外科专科医师规范化培训基地，住院医师规范化培训在培医师（不含专硕）320余人。

1.设省、市级科研平台35个，其中6个省级平台（三家福建省临床医学研究中心均获得国家临床医学研究中心福建分中心认定），获批23个市级科研平台，6个厦门大学院级研究所。获批厦门市唯一的细胞治疗研究中心，获批成立市首家临床医学研究院，获批首批省市级临床医学研究中心且获批数为厦门首位。
1. The hospital has 35 provincial and municipal research platforms, including 6 provincial platforms (with all 3 Fujian Provincial Clinical Research Centers accredited as Fujian Branch Centers of National Clinical Research Centers). It has been approved for 23 municipal-level research platforms and 6 research institutes at Xiamen University. The the hospital has been authorized to establish: The only Cell Therapy Research Center in Xiamen; The city’s first Clinical Medicine Research Institute; The first batch of provincial and municipal Clinical Research Centers, leading Xiamen in the number of such approvals.
2.国科金立项总数位居厦门市医疗系统首位。2024年，30项国科金立项数占据厦门市卫生系统的一半以上。
2. The total number of National Science Foundation (NSF) projects ranks first among medical systems in Xiamen. In 2024, 30 NSF projects accounted for more than half of the healthcare system’s projects in Xiamen.
3. 2020年以来每年SCI论文数均超过200篇，目前单篇影响因子最高87.244。

4. 连续3年全国GCP机构药物临床试验量值排行榜综合医院榜前40名，福建省内排名第一，获批仿制药一致性评价项目数量全国排名第十。
4. The hospital has ranked in the top 40 in the national GCP (Good Clinical Practice) drug clinical trial volume ranking for 3 consecutive years, holding the top position in Fujian Province. It ranks 10th nationwide in terms of the number of approved generic drug consistency evaluation projects.

Xiamen University boasts national-level teaching and research platforms such as the State Key Laboratory of Cell Stress Biology, the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Vaccinology and Molecular Diagnostics, and the National Research Institute for Health and Medical Big Data. The university also has a globally leading, nationally top-tier, “best, most complete, and most affordable” large-scale instrument-sharing platform. The university’s animal research center spans 13,850 square meters and includes more than 30,000 mouse cages, equipped with high-level experimental platforms such as breeding rooms, animal labs, quality control rooms, embryo purification rooms, cell culture rooms, and genetically modified mouse production.
